Is it Art?

I was recently perusing ads on Craigslist as I do on a nearly daily basis when I came across an interesting ad.

The ad read as follows:

Is it Art?

“Is it Art?” is an online experiment in which a model (anyone, really) emails me a high resolution head shot (hi rez as possible) from which I will draw a portrait. I will email the portrait to the model (free of charge, no money, no strings) as thanks for contributing to this art experiment. The whole project takes place on the Internet and its goal is to make me a better artist. You will be a stranger to me and, for your privacy, I will identify you only by city and number (e.g., Berlin 1, Berlin 2 etc). Just a head shot is fine; include all hair; don’t crop top of head; be natural. I began this project end of May, 2015 and have completed almost fifty portraits. My goal is one hundred.

So, send me that pic and be ready to decide “Is it Art?”

I sent in a photo and received a nice reply back not knowing if it was a real person or a computer bot.  However, I went on faith and waited patiently like the email advised.

Less than a week later I received the portrait shown here.  I really like it and it was fun to participate.

The Baton Rouge based artist, Greg Olivier, has a website at http://greigolivier.com/.

Christopher Ryan is a New Orleans male art model.
